Before buying a backpack for your dog, check its size and what it is made of. Here are some things Paula says you should look for:
- The backpack should be large enough for the dog to comfortably turn around.

Safe for dog backpack carrier
Dog backpacks are more than simply putting your dog in a bag and slinging it over your shoulder. There are some basic safety rules to follow:
- Backpackers are safe when you follow the weight limits recommended by the manufacturer. Don’t put a 30-pound dog in a backpack rated for 20-pound dogs.
