Thursday, October 13, some of the more notable members of the New York boxing community will focus on their trades in the middle of Times Square. “New Beginning”, a Boxing insider promotion card, which is scheduled to be canceled at the Sony Theater in Midtown this weekend and will feature Heather “The Heat” Hardy’s return in the main event, when the famous former world player takes on Calista Silgado in a scheduled six-round match. Hardy, a former WBO world featherweight belt, has been out of the ring for almost a year and a half (pandemic and trauma will do that for a boxer) and hopes to impress his home audience.
Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Ivan Golub based in Brooklyn will also appear on Thursday’s card. The 20-1 boxer will face Wesley Tucker 15-3 in the scheduled 10th round. Golub is on what can only be described as a long winning streak, suffering its only defeat 5 years and 7 matches ago. Like Hardy, Golub will slide mid-rope on Thursday for the first time in over a year.
The colorful Lebanese 10-1 super-middleweight Nadim Salloum will also play on Thursday, taking on Leandro Capozucco 4-0 in a match scheduled for 6. Salloum, who has traveled from his hometown of His trip to Mexico City to Los Angeles before landing in New York had a large Lebanese following and a winning personality. He can expand his fan base exponentially if he stays busy and keeps winning.
The same can be said for Andy Dominguez, the 7-0 undefeated flyweight. Having fought three times in 2022, the 24-year-old is certainly making the most of his professional career starting in 2020. Dominguez, who has stopped his last three opponents in the gap, comes in. from Mexico City, but now fights out of Las Vegas while living in New York. His opponent on Thursday will be Ricardo Caraballo 7-1-0. Their duel is expected to last 8 innings. In total, “New Beginnings” will feature five professional competitions.
