Topaz recently released its new Photo AI software, which handles noise, sharpness, and resolution. I have been using it and it really impressed me. If you want to see it work its magic on old photos, take a look inside.
The footsteps grow louder as AI threatens to revolutionize the way we approach photography. Now, I’m not necessarily revolutionizing it in a good way, I’m just using it in its purest sense – in the sense that that AI will probably completely or fundamentally change the process of creating images. . With each iteration of Photoshop or other post-editing platforms, we see more and more evidence of AI’s encroachment on the traditional way of working. Topaz’s new Photo AI platform is no exception. If you don’t know what it is, it basically takes the three separate components of the previous editing package – sharpening, noise reduction and upscaling – and puts them all together into one single package. Once you’ve brought your photo in for editing, you can adjust the settings yourself, or you can leave everything on Auto and let Topaz do the magic for it. So far, I am very impressed with my tool application. But how well does it work on old photos?
That brings us to this amazing new video by Anthony Morganti, in which he takes some very old, grainy images into Photo AI and puts the software to work. What I like about this video is that Morganti uses a lot of old images, including color and black and white photos. He also used some old, simple family photos, which was very helpful for this performance because I think that’s what a lot of people would have on their albums from decades ago. The results are quite impressive and I strongly encourage you to check out the video if you are worried about downloading this new software.
