This story is about an intelligent Golden Retriever named Jackson who is rescued from a shelter by Steve Moore. Despite all the comments from animal lovers, Jackson’s intelligence is evident. Steve Moore adopted Jackson and dedicated himself to training him every day.
Moore trained Jackson to do something amazing in just one month. Passers-by who were previously uninterested in Jackson were now impressed by his “trick” and wanted to have him for their own. Moore took Jackson to crowded and noisy locations to train him to work in such environments. He made Jackson practice sitting and staying still, gradually increasing the time sitting still. Finally, Moore gave him practice sitting and lying still while he was away from him.

He practiced many times leaving Jackson alone in a safe and secure place while he went into stores to complete his errands. This is a better option than leaving Jackson in the car, where he could overheat as dogs are generally not allowed in most stores. Leaving Jackson untethered gives him the freedom to run to safety in case of an emergency.

In the final step, I trained Jackson to sit and stay still while wearing a sign around his neck that read, “Dad told me to wait here. I wait.” Despite the commotion around him and people approaching to say hello and cuddle, Jackson patiently waited for his self to return.
