In response to mounting pressure on the European gas market and concerns regarding the security of electricity supply in the UK this winter, the UK Government has asked owners of gas-fired power generation properties to older coal, including Drax, partnered with National Grid to temporarily extend the life of their coal-producing assets through March 2023.

How much of everyone’s electricity bills are the costs of keeping Drax and other coal plants up and running at all times, because the fleet of useless renewables cannot meet Britain’s energy needs all at once. reliable way?
