More details on Diddy’s reported response to the sexual assault lawsuit

According to AP News, Combs’ legal team filed the motion on Friday, April 26. The music mogul’s legal team reportedly asserted that Diddy cannot be sued for the specific claims in the lawsuit because “certain laws did not exist” when the incidents allegedly occurred in 1991.

Diddy’s legal team is reportedly asking for Joi Dickerson-Neal’s claims of “revenge porn and human trafficking” to be “dismissed with prejudice.”

CNN notes that Combs’ lawyers are continuing to label Dickerson-Neal’s allegations as “false, offensive and obscene.” Additionally, Diddy’s lawyers are reportedly asking for the “allegations against Combs’ company” to be dismissed. It’s worth noting, TMZ reports that this request refers to Diddy’s companies, “Bad Boy Records or Bad Boy Entertainment.”

However, TMZ notes that Diddy’s team has not filed a motion to dismiss the first “two counts” in the lawsuit. Those charges allege Combs “assaulted,” assaulted and “intentionally caused emotional distress” to the plaintiff.

More details about the Lawsuit & Allegations

As The Shade Room previously reported, Dickerson-Neal filed a lawsuit against Combs in November 2023. Furthermore, the lawsuit was reportedly filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act.

At the time, it was reported that Dickerson-Neal had accused Diddy of sexually assaulting her after a date in 1991. Diddy allegedly gave the woman drugs. Then, allegedly sexually assaulted her at a music studio.

According to AP News, the woman accused Combs of recording the assault. Additionally, she accused him of sharing the footage with friends.

In an initial response to the lawsuit, a spokesperson for the tycoon reportedly denied the allegations. Additionally, they labeled the claims as “cash grabs.”

“This last-minute lawsuit is an example of how a well-intentioned law can be overturned. The 32-year-old Ms. Dickerson’s story is fabricated and unreliable. Mr. Combs never assaulted her and she referred to companies that did not exist. This is purely a way to make money and nothing more,” their statement read in the New York Post.
