One of the controversies continues about the revival Toyota Supra aimed at the lack of a manual transmission. In early 2020, not long after the coupe hit the market, the chief engineer Tetsuya Tada kept explaining though his team tested the manual Supra, there are three main reasons it won’t be offered: The eight-speed automatic is faster and better; the automatic can handle more torque, which should dampen the transmission’s bangs for funky tunes as happened on pre-tuned Supras; and the Supra needs daylight in terms of specs between it and the manual powered device GR86. Craft enthusiasts barely listen. The Tada clan has noticed to be, “We are ready to chat with the sales and marketing team after everyone’s experience [the automatic]. [A manual] is not entirely out of the question. “So those enthusiasts continue to understand manual bypassing. And Tada, being a man of his word, is capable of execution. Based on CD driver, a six-speed manual Supra is on sale, perhaps as early as this year.
Until last August there are rumors in Japan that Toyota is preparing a six-speed manual for the Supra. It’s unclear whether the stick will be served on the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder model or the in-line six; BMW car provide a user manual with Supra’s Z4 roadster siblings are only available on the 2.0 liter sDrive20i. However, the gearbox rumor accompanied by another rumor that there will be a Special GRMN Supra use BMW S58 engine in M3 and M4, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed transmission to reduce power to 437 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque.
Finer details persist in the shadows, but “a source from within Toyota seller network “is said to have told CD driver that Toyota showed off a prototype Supra manual transmission at the same dealership event in Las Vegas last year where the automaker showed off the upcoming GR corolla. That source says your own Supra has been confirmed, its arrival date expected to be this year, but not sure exactly when. And no matter what happens with the 2.0 liter, the transmission will be available with an inline six.
If anyone knew what was coming, it would be a dealer. The Toyota Supra, on the other hand, is one of the anomalies in that the car is only three years old, but the older it gets, the harder it is to figure out what’s going on with it. So don’t be surprised if it soon comes to a six-speed manual. And don’t be surprised if it doesn’t.
