Casse wants to race her once this winter in Florida before starting with her in Ashland Stakes (G1) April 7 in Keeneland. Florida options include the $150,000 Suncoast Stakes, a one-mile two-way race and 40 yards on Feb. Tampa . Bayor $200,000 Davona Dale Stakes (G2) at one mile on March 4 at Gulfstream Park.
Casse currently likes Davona Dale despite its one-turn configuration.
“It’s not ideal, but it’s best when I consider the timing,” he said.
Both Suncoast and Davona Dale qualified for the May 5 Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs, with Davona Dale providing qualifying scores on a higher scale. Wonder Wheel topped the Kentucky Oaks leaderboard with 40 points.
