PATRICK MAHOMES AND TRAVIS KELCE
Turned out Patrick Mahomes And Travis Kelce together can win more than just Super Bowls. The The Kansas City Chiefs duo prevails Steph curry And Klay Thompson in the eighth edition of The Match, charity 12-hole golf exhibition at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Mahomes and Kelce beat Splash Brothers in 10 holesgave the Chiefs quarterback victory in the event just over a year after he and Bills signal caller Josh Allen lost to Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.
- The leader duo races to one 4 UP led through the first six holes, but with a chance to win on the seventh hole, Kelce missed a put after his tee shot sent him 10 feet from the hole to extend the game.
- Mahomes and Kelce would then miss the shots that would win the match on the ninth inning, resulting in Splash Brothers’ only win.
- As he did so often on the football field, Mahomes delivered the winning play for his team, this time with a short par-4 10 instead of an unseen pass.
Even though Curry and Thompson didn’t win, it wasn’t bad for combatant fans like Blue Draymond — who is attacking unlimited free agency today — showed up and showed support. Maybe that’s a sign he’s running again with Golden State?

THE 76ERS
The James Harden the era has ended in Philly. After a season and a half with the 76ers, the three-time goal-scoring champion has is said to have opted into his contract ARRIVE allow Philadelphia to explore commercial options.

Kyrie Irving landing point: Can the Star Guardian reunite with LeBron in LA? 🏀

NBA Free Agency officially opened today and Kyrie Irving is the largest name available. The All-Star eight hits the open market as an unrestricted free agent after finishing last season with Mavericksbut a return to Dallas is uncertain.
Irving has long been considered a Lakers target — reportedly, they tried to exchange him in February — because of his connection to LeBron Jameswhen both take the lead Cavalry to their first championship in 2016. A lot has changed since then, most notably Irving’s off-court antics that made him somewhat of a depreciating asset. However, teams always need to score and Irving remains one of the best bucket throwers in the tournament.
CBS Sports’ Jasmyn Wimbish is out three potential landing spots for Irvingand this is her case for the Lakers:
- naughty: “From a court perspective, Irving will be an immediate upgrade for [D’Angelo] Russel, and there has been history suggesting that he would be the perfect pair alongside LeBron. He has experienced sharing ball handling duties with James, and Anthony Davis would benefit from the passes Irving gave him.”
If Irving can’t find his way to Los Angeles, he could stay in Texas — but not with the team you think. Wimbish listed rocket as one of Irving’s landing spots, and while the fit may seem odd to Houston’s line-up, Houston could pull the trigger anyway as Harden seems to be gone.
- naughty: “Houston already has two heavily used guards on the list Blue Jalen And Kevin the porter Jr., so bringing in Irving will almost certainly take the ball out of their hands. But Houston is one of the few teams around the league with a significant cap, $60 million to be exact, and they have the money to give Irving the maximum contract he’s been looking for when with Brooklyn.

With the NHL Draft in the rearview mirror, All eyes are on the free agent opening on Saturday. This class lacks a real star, but CBS Sports’ Austin Nivison believes players like Ryan O’Neill and Tyler Bertuzzi could be valuable additions to the right teams.
O’Neill tops the list as a former Selke Trophy and Stanley Cup champion, but at 32, he likely won’t be commanding the kind of contract his resume would suggest.
- Nivison: “O’Reilly took a step back into the 2022-23 season, with 16 goals and 30 points in 53 games, but he started the season with a very bad St. Louis Blues team. After moving to Toronto Maple Leafs, O’ Reilly’s numbers have improved and he shows that he still has some gas left in the tank, value for a playoff contender at the right price.”
As for Bertuzzi, he will probably get a substantial payday after boom with the Bruins who have won the President’s Cup for a long time. However, injuries are a concern, which could make teams nervous about including him in their long-term plans.
- Nivison: “Bertuzzi is probably the hottest name on the free market this summer. At his peak, Bertuzzi is a nuisance with a strong pre-check and some scoring streak. The problem is that Bertuzzi has struggled to put together complete seasons over the past few years.”

Who is more disappointing, the Padres or the Mets? ⚾

it gets a forgettable season for Mets and Padres, two teams each had sky-high expectations. However, which team has failed the most?
CBS Sports’ MLB experts discussed the topic on Batting Around this week, and Opinions have been divided.
Matt Snyder traveled with the Padres, noting that he was particularly frustrated with the team’s offense, including overvalued veterans Manny Machado, Jake Cronenworth and Xander Bogaerts.
- Snyder: “I think if you measure the temperature of the fan bases, the Mets will probably ‘win’ here convincingly, but for me personally, it’s the Padres. … They should do well. They lead the NL in the ERA If someone told you at the start of the season that as of June 29, the Padres would have the best ERA team in the NL, you would definitely think Padres would be in the position. Instead, the bats completely failed them.”
Dayn Perry, meanwhile, picked the Mets because of how strongly they’ve fallen behind this season despite owning the highest MLB pay ever.
- Perry: “Although the Cardinals might like a word, I’d have to pick the Mets if given a choice between them or the Padres. Compared to the Padres, the Padres have slightly better records and significantly better running margins, and they have achieved all that despite playing on a tougher schedule so far.Given that the Mets won 100 games last season and are on the highest payrolls in MLB history, they are the ‘winners’ here.”
