Suzuki Australia announces new CEO


There’s a new boss at Australian Suzuki.

Shuzo Hoshikura is the new chief executive officer at Suzuki Australia. He used to manage the China market for Suzuki Motor Corporation.

More recently, Hoshikura-san was the team manager for Suzuki’s Automotive Asia Marketing Group, covering Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The change of guard took effect shortly after his predecessor Yoshiyuki Hakamata returned to Japan in April to begin his new duties with Suzuki Motor Corporation.

Hoshikura-san said: “I am both honored and humbled to have been chosen to lead such a dedicated and dynamic team in Australia.

“Hakamata-san has been a huge asset to Suzuki Australia during his five-year tenure, and we are grateful for his efforts in building a stronger brand,” said Michael Pachota, Suzuki Australia general manager said.

“We now look forward to continuing to build on that solid foundation with Hoshikura san.”

Suzuki in Australia sold 4110 more vehicles in 2022 than in 2021, for a total of 21,578 vehicles.

This number is up 23.5% and comes in at 15th place among car brands.
