The Agenda for the Jockey Club Roundtable


Today, the Equestrian Club announced the agenda for its Annual Roundtable on Racing-Related Issues. The convention will be held at Saratoga Springs City Center in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Thursday, August 3, at 10 a.m. ET. President Stuart S. Janney III will chair the conference and offer insights into Jockey Club operations and the future of the sport.

This year’s keynote speaker is Michael Lopez, senior director of Data and Analytics for the National Rugby League. Lopez will discuss how the data is analyzed to enhance and help better understand football and possible correlations with horse racing.

Lindsay Czarniak, a sports reporter and presenter working for FOX NFL and FOX NASCAR, will use her extensive knowledge of sports to make observations on horse racing marketing.

The conference will also have two tables. The first session will be hosted by Pat Cummings, executive director of the Thoroughbred Idea Foundation, with panelists Marshall Gramm, professor at Rhodes University in Memphis, Tennessee, and fellow founder of the Ten Strike Racing Association, and David O’Rourke president and CEO of the New York Racing Association. The seminar will focus on computer-aided betting and its impact on racetracks and bettors.

The second workshop will address the Horse Racing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) after the first year of enactment. The panelists were Lisa Lazarus, Executive Director of HISA; Ben Mosier, executive director of the Welfare & Integrity Unit in Equestrianism; and coaches Jena Antonucci and Ron Moquett.
