Churchill Downs Inc. announced on January 14 that Ben Murr has been appointed president of TwinSpires and online gaming. In this role, he will be responsible for the overall strategy and operations of these businesses.
Murr has 24 years of leadership experience for this position. During his 14 years with CDI, he has held a variety of leadership roles including president of United Tote, senior vice president and chief technology officer, and most recently interim president of TwinSpires and online gaming line.
Prior to joining CDI, Murr worked as an information technology leader at General Electric. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Business Administration from Bellarmine University.
“During his tenure with CDI, Ben has been a key leader in growth across our operations,” said Carstanjen. “He’s been a key player during the sweeping changes in our company over the past 14 years and will continue to grow TwinSpires and our online businesses forward.”
“I have been heavily involved in TwinSpires and our online gaming activities during my tenure at CDI,” said Murr. “I am passionate about these businesses and strongly believe in their future growth potential and strategic importance to CDI.”
Murr will remain as senior vice president of CDI in addition to his responsibilities as president of TwinSpires and online gaming.
Murr’s promotion is effective immediately. The company will soon add to the roles of senior vice president and chief technology officer.
