Tesla promises Cybertruck production on track, teases next-gen platform

Tesla’s long-awaited Cybertruck “still on track to start production later this year at Gigafactory Texas”, electric vehicle company promised Wednesday, in its latest quarterly financial report.

The assurance came after years of delay. Tesla first launched an electric pickup truck in 2019, prompting more than 250,000 people to pre-order the vehicle within a week. As of November, more than 1.5 million customers have pre-ordered the Cybertruck, according to Electrek.

As consumers wait for the Cybertruck, many mainstream auto brands are starting to launch their own electric pickups. Back in April, Ford started rolling out Lightning F-150. Earlier this month, Ram revealed Ram Revolution 1500with the promise to start production in 2024.

Tesla started production last year electric pickup truckbut the company hasn’t revealed a new consumer car model in years.

In its Q4 report on Wednesday, Tesla added: “Our next-generation vehicle platform is under development, with additional details to be shared on Investment Day (March 1, 2018). 2023).”

Tesla reported record revenue and net income for the fourth quarter of 2022. For the full year, total revenue increased 51% year-over-year to $81.5 billion and net income (GAAP) more than doubled. double to $12.6 billion.
