Terence Crawford: “They should have caught me before I entered the weight class, now it’s over”

After a long and hugely successful streak in the ultralightweight division, which ended with an undisputed world championship, there was nothing left for Terence Crawford to achieve in the 140 pound weight class. So with the Omaha, Nebraska, native wiping out most of the top names, he opted to make the 7-pound trek north in 2018.

In his first official competition as a 147-pound athlete, Crawford thoroughly dissected former WBO weight champion Jeff Horn, stopping him in the ninth round. Since then, Crawford has set his sights on taking on some of the older names at 147 pounds, including former unified champion Keith Thurman, former amateur rival Danny Garcia and, more specifically, the IBF belt holder and Current WBC Errol Spence Jr.

Although Crawford was completely convinced he was good enough to beat every top class by the time he debuted in the 147-pound weight class, in essence, he believed he was trying to help. help them. Crawford, 34, showed off his new-found strength on his most recent trip to the ring. In his only appearance in 2021, Crawford easily took down the toughest opponent of his career, former two-time weight champion Shawn Porter.

Through the first six rounds of their competition, both Porter and Crawford seemed to battle on parity terms. As their game continued to move forward, however, Crawford continued the stretch. In particular, in the tenth round, the star of the balance suddenly brought his match to a new level.

During this time, Crawford scored the first knockdown of the night. Though Porter was hoping for help, Crawford brazenly shut down the program, beating Porter shortly after and forcing Kenny Porter, Shawn Porter’s father and coach, to give up.

As Crawford’s 2022 calendar has to be revealed, the WBO belt holder still hopes to have a showdown with Thurman, Spence Jr. or WBA title player Yordenis Ugas. While it’s not clear who Crawford will face next, in his opinion the rest of the department should be bothered by his disapproval of his previous footnote.
