Teofimo Lopez undergoes surgery, aims to return to summer
Former lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez hopes to return this summer after having hand surgery on Thursday.
ESPN revealed news about the 24-year-old will now be unable to punch with his right hand for six weeks. After full recovery, the 135lbs WBA, IBF and WBO belt holder will begin the road back to the top by working out at 140lbs.
Lopez’s manager David McWater told ESPN that Arnold Barbosa Jr remains a possible opponent for his client’s return to non-fight since his loss to George Kambosos Jr five months ago.
“This has been a problem for a long time, and because of that [Kambosos] McWater says the fight has been postponed numerous times.
