Teofimo Lopez Sr. believes he has prophetic powers in predicting his son’s future.
When Teofimo Lopez stepped onto the boxing ring, Lopez Sr. shouted to the top of the mountain that his son was going to be world champion in 15 games and undisputed in 16. Four years later, Lopez proved his father right.
Lopez defeated Richard Commey in the second round of their IBF lightweight title match in 2019, before knocking out Vasiliy Lomachenko a year later to claim the WBO, WBA and WBC “Franchise” titles.
A blunder that Lopez Sr. believe he made it, which is letting his son hang on at 135 pounds instead of gaining weight. Therefore, Lopez Sr. insists that his beheading move was the only reason his son defeated George Kambosos Jr. in November 2021. While he was ultimately frustrated, Lopez Sr. vehemently believe that 2022, will be a big match year for his son.
Lopez Sr. Said in an interview with Punsh Drunk Boxing: “This is our start-up year. “We have one ESPN and two pay-per-view.”
With the goal of pushing his son into the ring at least three times this year, the former £135 player’s father and coach are united in the hope that one of those bouts will be against Scotland’s Josh Taylor in London. 140 pound class.
The 31-year-old male tennis player won the last two pieces of the super light puzzle in May 2021 against Jose Ramirez. Although Taylor was above cloud nine after the win, he was let down by his most recent overall performance.
Billed as a heavyweight favorite, Taylor has managed to defend her undisputed throne against fringe candidate Jack Catterall. Despite his overwhelming belief that Taylor would take over the business with ease, the once-rated £140 player struggled hard.

While Taylor recently revealed that the fight with Catterall will be his last at 140 pounds, Lopez Sr is hoping that he will carry on.
In fact, if Taylor changes her mind and chooses to continue her reign as a super light, Lopez Sr. considers confrontation with his son inevitable. As for how he watched the match between Taylor and his son go, Lopez Sr. smiled devilishly as he described the brutal beatings Taylor would have to endure.
“Trust me, we’re flirting with that Josh Taylor kid. He will get a wheeze. My son will keep hitting him and slapping his butt all night long. ”
