Let me be clear here – this Saturday’s undisputed heavyweight championship fight between WBC titlist Tyson Fury and WBA, IBF, and WBO titlist Olksandr Usyk is your nightmare. examiner. Why? Because it will be difficult to pick a winner that is even close to universally accepted. The fight is still a few days away and I can already sense the argument on the referee’s card. Ultimately, I don’t see either person ending the other anytime soon. Furthermore, I don’t see either one dominating the other over a long period of time. This will be anyone’s fight until the final bell. And there will be complaints afterward. Of course, I could be wrong, but I feel comfortable predicting controversy here.
That doesn’t mean the fight will be particularly great – it also doesn’t mean the fight will be terrible. The word here is “attractive”. Here’s how I see it playing out: Usyk, with his lateral movement and accuracy will soon frustrate big man Fury. In response, Fury would start to get really rough in the middle rounds. Remember this is Fury, a man who elbowed Francis Ngannou, licked Deontay Wilder’s blood and who considers himself Wladimir Klitschko. He will aggressively attack at this point in the fight and he will not hesitate to follow the rules.
Of course, this brings us to the final part of the match. Expect the fight to be close as the fight enters the final rounds, with Usyk possibly having a few more rounds left. And that’s when the Tyson Fury show will come to town. Using every last ounce of strength he has, the British giant will look elusive and awkward, just as he did to Klitschko nearly ten years ago. He may not get the better of Usyk in those crucial six minutes, but Fury will convince two of the three judges he has.
And that of course will result Angry victory by split decision after the cards are read – whether or not he deserved the victory. Ultimately, Fury is the more colorful and profitable of the two fighters. Plus, people love a show and Fury will give them one during those championship rounds. He will then have to prepare all over again for Usyk in what is a guaranteed rematch. Who knows how THAT will turn out?
