First and foremost, a location was finally settled for the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia superfight in April. Indeed, the Davis-Garcia match will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the 22nd of that month. Unsurprisingly, T-Mobile is essentially the launch venue for major combat sports events in the United States, although the MGM Grand still delivers a large number of major games. However, many of the forces behind Davis-Garcia have decided to choose the newer, larger T-Mobile Arena to be the home of this fight. Ticket information is not yet available.
In fact an exact location has finally been announced, Davis and Garcia will participate in two major city press conferences this week. The first will be held Tuesday afternoon in New York City at Palladium Times Square. The second press conference will be held on Thursday afternoon at the Beverley Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Showtime Sports honored Stephen Espinoza, whose network showcased Davis-Garcia as a pay-per-view event, previously arguing there would be no press tour because both boxers are young and about can basically sell online matches to their millions of social media followers. While a press event in two cities may not constitute the entire press tour, it certainly shows that the promotion will include more than just online sales skills. .
It will be interesting to see how the two boxers will interact when they appear on stage together. None is the main attraction of a big event like this. Plus, we live in an era that encourages misbehaving fighters to sell. Suffice it to say, Davis-Garcia was the biggest boxing bout in the sport at least since the Fury-Wilder trilogy and probably earlier than that.
