Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano’s undisputed lightweight brick fight last year at Madison Square Garden was chosen by Boxing Insider as the match of the year 2022. War Of The Year. It’s a true horror movie, where each woman stands her chance and fights furiously until the end bell rings. Taylor won by split, despite the fact that the victory could have been awarded to either boxer. The match is near. Needless to say, news of the upcoming May rematch in Dublin has pleased many match fans. Unfortunately, Serrano’s injury has now prevented the fight from going.
“Due to an injury to Amanda Serrano,” advertising outlet Matchbook Boxing said in a press release Tuesday, “Matchroom Boxing and Most Valuable Promotions regret to announce that the Taylor-Serrano II match on the 20th will be announced. May in Dublin will not go as planned . The teams are discussing finding a revised date for the match. More details will follow in due course.
As of press time, it is unclear what Serrano’s injury was or how severe it was. The multi-department list fought earlier this month, making it easy to dismiss a determined Erika Cruz in New York. As for Taylor, the highly acclaimed Irish woman last acted in October when she decided to cast Karen Carabajal in London.
