Switch Online’s N64 Update is Live (Version 2.4.0), Here’s What’s Included
Switch Online’s Nintendo 64 app received an update earlier today, raising it to Version 2.4.0 and adding Pokémon Snap to service. However, that is not all.
Nintendo doesn’t release patch notes for app updates like this, but fortunately we have some insight into what’s going on behind the scenes in this latest update, with Nintendo dataminer support Oatmeal.
In addition to Pokémon Snap, changes and adjustments related to many other games such as Fox star, fox 64, Mario plays golf and F-Zero X. There is also mention of some additional text (support for reference microphones) being added. Here is the full summary:
[NSO – Nintendo 64] Version 2.4.0 is out.
– Pokémon Snap added. Since EU has 4 ROMs (one ROM per language), they get 4 boxes on the selection screen.
– The text “The microphone cannot be used while holding the controller in this way” has been added. (Ported from Famicom NSO app??)
– Nintendo is starting to remove comments from configuration files, making it difficult to tell what was changed.
– A CPU hack has been added to Star Fox 64.
– A CPU hack has been added to Kirby 64.
– The AOT and PCB executables for F-Zero X and Mario Golf have been changed.
Last month’s N64 app update made some minor adjustments to the game library currently available on the service. Nintendo has also made some significant changes since the launch of this Expansion Pack library, such as restoring the fog in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
