Simplification Arrives at Pleasant Acres for Stud Duty

Florida’s 2022 Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old colt Simplification   has arrived at Pleasant Acres Stallions where he will enter stud next at $6,500, the farm announced Dec. 21.

Simplification is a 4-year-old son of Not This Time  , a top 10 general leading North American sire of 2023 and the year’s leading fourth-crop sire. He was bred in Florida by France and Irwin Weiner and later raced by Tami Bobo with trainer Antonio Sano.

“We are pleased to bring a talented son of Not This Time into our stallion barn at Pleasant Acres Stallions,” said director of stallion services Christine Jones. “Simplification is a hometown hero for all of us in Florida and we are certain breeders will benefit from breeding to this champion Horse of the Year, Florida-bred, and graded stakes winner.”

At 2, Simplification became a winner in his second start, romping by 16 3/4 lengths and clearing six furlongs at Gulfstream Park in 1:09.81. His debut at 3 produced his first stakes win in the one-turn-mile Mucho Macho Man Stakes. He followed with a second to White Abarrio  in the Holy Bull Stakes (G3) and then captured his first graded stakes victory by 3 1/2 lengths in the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2). A third in the Florida Derby (G1) to White Abarrio and Charge It  made him a contender to watch in the 2022 Kentucky Derby (G1). He would finish a respectable fourth in the Run for the Roses. Simplification stayed competitive throughout his sophomore campaign that included third-place finishes in the West Virginia Derby (G3) and Harlan’s Holiday Stakes (G3). At 4, his best performance was a third in the Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes (G2). He would be retired a 3-1-5 record from 16 starts and career earnings of $873,110.

“Simplification’s unique innate talent and competitive mindset made him the Florida champion that I’ve always wanted to train,” said Sano. “He proved to me speed, stamina, endurance, and above all, courage.”

Simplification is out of the stakes-placed winner Simply Confection, a daughter of Candy Ride   who is also the dam of multiple stakes winner Chi Chi  (Audible). Simply Confection is out of the stakes-placed Saint Ballado winner Ballado’s Halo, who is a full sister to multiple champion and multiple grade 1 winner Ashado and to grade 1 winner Sunriver. Ballado’s Halo also is the granddam to course record-holder and multiple stakes winner Inflexibility (Scat Daddy) and to multiple stakes winner Halo Again.

Several Florida horsemen said they see a lot of potential in the latest addition to Central Florida’s stallion pool.

“Simplification’s is an extremely balanced horse with a great shoulder and strong hind leg. He always gave his all and loved his job,” said Tristan and Valerie de Meric. “With his physical presence and pedigree there is a lot of potential for him at stud. He’s an exciting addition to the Florida stallion roster and a great value.”
