It looks like Ryo Hazuki’s search for his father’s killer may never be solved – at least not in animated form. The first season of Shenmue the Animation no longer available on HBO Max or Adult Swim, delisted after parent company Warner Bros merged with Discovery. Toonami co-creator, Jason DeMarco, has stepped up Twitter account on Wednesday to comment on the list of programs posted by the account @CNschedules. In his comment, DeMarco confirmed that Shenmue anime may not have a second season. This is happening although preparations are underway to start production following the success of the first season.

DeMarco has confirmed that Shenmue the Animationalong with titles like Blade Runner: Black Lotus and Fena: Pirate Princess, still viewable via Crunchyroll. Since Crunchyroll co-produced the trilogy, it retains the streaming rights. The content cuts came primarily as a way for Warner Bros and Discovery to reduce costs and tax burdens following the merger. As such, they mainly affect the presence on HBO and related channels. The losses also don’t affect download releases, though there’s still a chance the company could change its mind later and scrap the program altogether. At last, Last space, another show on Adult Swim, was “wiped out” so thoroughly that its online, physical, and digital releases were discontinued altogether.
DeMarco’s further comments note that while the loss affects current showings, planned and ongoing production operations are on track. Adult Swim is producing and co-producing new anime, like Housing complex C, an adaptation of Junji Ito Uzumakiand other activities connected with FLCL.
Shenmue the Animation Part one is watchable on Crunchyroll. The first two Shenmue The game is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC as a remake. Shenmue III available on PS4 and PC.
