Samurai Shodown Recovery Test Kit Mid-February
SNK Global has officially scheduled its upcoming test rollback network code deployment in Samurai Warriors. A new announcement posted to the company’s official Twitter account announced that Samurai Warriors Rollback Beta testing will take place on February 10, 2023. This process will take place for a week and end on February 17, 2023. Exact time will be announced closer to the start date. All published time zones are in Japan time (GMT+9). The beta test is PC-only via Steam, but a rollout is also planned for the PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One versions of the game. No recovery implementation has been announced for the current Nintendo Switch version.
Global SNK also announced that the test is open to all players who own a PC copy of Samurai Warriors. The test will include the entire roster of games, including DLC characters. Players who do not yet own those characters will have the opportunity to test them with martial arts fight restore beta version.
Steam Recovery Community Beta Test will take place February 10-17 (JST)!

Netcode like the one being implemented for Samurai Warriors rollback beta test is a widely requested feature in fighting game world. Although more complex and more difficult to implement in terms of development, rollback is the preferred type of network code to use for online matches as it can handle adverse network conditions more effectively than network code” delay-based” simpler. Latency codes were more common in Japanese-made fighting games for a while, in part because many fighting games considered online play and international arenas irrelevant.
As fighting games reach global audiences and start to become their main home on home consoles and PCs, the restore-by-default implementation becomes more common. Even now older games are being retrofitted with the restore feature. Cygames and Arc System Works announced they had to “rebuild” Granblue Fantasy vs in the recent publication Granblue Fantasy vs Rising for rollback performance and cross-platform play.
Samurai Warriors available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The recovery test will take place on PC via Steam from February 10-17, 2023.
