It’s been a damn long year, so I forgot that people are making a video game like Grim Souls based on Pinocchio. Oh, but they are! And you can see that in the first gameplay trailer for P’s Lie. Some big Bloodborne vibes mixed with a bit of Sekiro, in an edgy murder world based on the old story. As if anything could be a little scarier in the Disney version, where kids are turned into donkeys. But come, check out the trailer.
We play as the puppet Pinocchio, a cyborg boy who wakes up in the city of Krat, where something clearly has gone terribly wrong. We started, trying to figure out what happened, crashing into the robot, building weapons including Bloodborne’s Whirligig Saw, and playing with the Sekiro-esque robot including a grappling hook and flamethrower .
Also, because he’s Pinocchio, it has missions where you can lie, and a press release reads: “The more you lie, the more human you become, with all the perks. advantages and disadvantages it entails.” Selection also affects the ending. I find this quite funny. But hey, if you’re feeling bad, do your best.
Though I’m confused by the car hanging from a bridge with the “APAB” sign hanging from a lampstand in its neck hole:
I actually asked the publishers about it because I was bewildered by the contrasting images it pulled together from modern history. What and why.
