Now, we know a lot more about the upcoming 9th generation of Pokémon games. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet looks to change the formula of the series in a few different ways, such as four-player co-op and a full open world, but one important thing remains unchanged with the upcoming main games. .
Scarlet and Violet continue the tradition of releasing two different versions of the same game. Some people might think that red is just a cool, bold color, but there is a certain mystical charm about that color purple. But there are some other things that distinguish the versions – more than usual – that may just sway your opinion.
Let’s start with the obvious, the dictionary. The box art beauties this time are Koraidon and Miraidon, two snake-like Pokémon with bold coloring and large, rough designs. Koraidon is exclusive to Scarlet, while you will be able to find Miraidon in Violet. Despite their similar stance, these two extremely powerful winds are quite different.
Koraidon has a lot of fur on his head, neck, and arms, complete with a kaleidoscope color. It is also stand pretty proud (more on that), and it looks like a tire sticking out of its chest. Is that uncomfortable? Are we overthinking this again? Basically, it looks like a prehistoric lizard with feathers and a motorcycle tire. You then. It’s a lot. Perhaps too much? Never! We love that it’s a historical myth.
On the other hand, Miraidon is electric, unnatural and futuristic. Remember we said that Koraidon was standing? Well, Miraidon has two jet engines so it’s hovering in the air. It has lightning bolts for its antennae and its purple skin looks a lot like metal. Add in the robot arm, metal parts of a tail, pixelated eyes, and… whatever kind of wheel is in this man’s ribcage, and we have a ‘mon’ of the future. Its sleek design is a lovely contrast to the Koraidon and we love those extra details.
Whichever you like, you can’t deny that they both make a bit of box art, right?
Next, and possibly the most important difference, is something completely new to the series. Scarlet and Violet will have another professor depending on the version you choose. Professor Sada, in sandals, period costume, and accessories, is the resident expert of Pokémon Scarlet. Professor Turo’s purple and black jumpsuit – of which even the shoes are a part – will be your guiding hand in Pokémon Violet.
That’s all we know about those two for now, but the internet has some feeling about these two. Yes, they are pretty to look at, ahem. But we mostly get to the fact that some think that, depending on the version of the game you choose, the other professor will be the villain. We’re not sure we can fight either of these.
Professor Sada’s unusual combination of period clothes and lab coat is certainly odd at first, but then again, it’s extra details! Teeth buttons on the jacket; feathers around the collar; and its whitish color. Sada also has the best hair of any Pokémon professor. There. We said that. Professor Turo has a much simpler, more modern design – he also looks more serious and less adventurous than Sada, but that neat look, beard, and jumpsuit make him very good-looking.
The final difference is something other fans, and us, have speculated on. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet seem to be past versus future theme. The designs of legendaries and professors speak for themselves, but so do their names! Miraidon and Koraidon contain the Japanese words for ancient (korai) and future (mirai) in their names, while Sada and Turo refer to the Spanish words for past (pasado) and future (futuro). . There are similar naming conventions in other languages.
If the fan theory about professors proves to be true and we really will face other, that only seems to bring to mind the fact that this will be a battle of tradition and modernization, a clash of the old and the new, a clash of the past and the future! Place your bets on who will be the winner now!
