People are ordering expensive cameras on Amazon and getting cat food instead

In January, the BBC published the story of a man who was sent dog food by Amazon when he ordered an iPhone. The article prompted many other readers to come up with similar stories, including cameras being replaced by cat food and computers being exchanged for surgical masks.

One reader recounted the story of spending £1,420 on a Sony a6400 and the included Tamron lens, only to receive Felix cat food. Worse still, Amazon initially refused to refund the man, as he took the package and gave the driver the security code that came with it because it looked normal from the outside. Thankfully, after many attempts, the lens was replaced and the camera was returned due to being out of stock.

Another described how her son suffered when he received a surgical mask in place of the graphics card he had been saving for years to get. She said she spent hours on the phone with Amazon and was only allowed to receive a refund after she shipped the masks back to the company at her own expense.

Perhaps the most egregious story is about a man who spent £1,999 on Panasonic cameras and lenses. The device has been sent to the Amazon Hub counter. The man carefully opened the package in front of the Center’s security cameras and made sure he found only two pairs of shoes in the box. Despite multiple attempts to get a refund, including notifying Amazon that he had video evidence of the incident, he was unsuccessful and had to file a charge dispute with his bank. me.

This is not the first time such incidents have been reported on Amazon. An important reminder is that you must be extremely careful with the retailers you purchase from and take steps to protect yourself.
