Airstream and future Porsche RV will look great when connected to your Taycan
When you think about the Iconic Airstream caravanWhat kind of car do you imagine will tow it? Maybe a classic Chevrolet truck, or a classic Jeep? What about a Porsche? Well, the German automaker has teamed up with Airstream to design a futuristic RV concept that pairs perfectly with the all-electric Taycan.
In case you lost it:
Airstream worked with Studio FA Porsche of the sports car manufacturer designer for the new concept, which is said to showcase the “next-generation Airstream trailer” while also incorporating highlights from both brands. And, I have to say, it looks great.
From the outside, it’s still clear Airstream with its silver shade and black windows. But then it was brought into the 21st century with a pop-up roof and lowered suspension, which also makes this new RV fit into a regular garage.

Other exterior details include a new flatter shape at the rear and a flat bottom faceplate, both of which are said to improve airflow and reduce drag from trailers. But RV It’s not about low drag, they talk about bougie furniture, right? So inside the Porsche-designed RV is a whole bunch of nice features.
At the front of the trailer is a small, yet modern kitchen area that features a two-ring stove, sink, and a hinged counter that flips up to extend your countertop. Behind this is a neat bathroom, enclosed by the rest of the cabin via a swooping structure.
All the way in the back of new air is a seating area consisting of two couch-like chairs and a table, which can be turned into a sleeping area measuring 82” x 61”. Furthermore, the entire rear of the RV is actually a split open door. This means a hinged hatch and a drop-down tailgate that can be opened to explore the natural world or act as attachment points for awnings and other accessories.
The whole thing looks very neat, especially when you imagine this sleek tractor trailer hooked up to the back of something like Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. But for now, it’s just a concept.
One model of the Airstream . concept will be on display at the SXSW festival in Texas next week, where it will be displayed alongside Porsche’s trailer, the Macan. Then who knows what might happen with its neat concept and design.
“It’s a new design approach aimed at reaching a wider, more diverse range of potential customers,” Airstream President and CEO Bob Wheeler said in a press release.
“While our concept projects do not always reach the market, the lessons and innovations gained often influence current and future designs as they make their way into the mainstream. our main product.”
So while a pint-sized, convertible Porsche RV probably won’t be available anytime soon, it will be interesting to see how the innovations embodied in this concept make their way into the Airstream trailers of the future. .
However, if you were to design an RV of the future, what features would you like it to have? After all, RV design campers haven’t changed much in Airstream’s 100-year history.
