Founder Henrik Fisker is said to have shared this information with employees at an all-hands meeting on Thursday. Fisker did not name interested automakers, but he did tell employees, “We still have time to get other offers on Fisker. We have four auto companies that have signed NDAs. However, it is clear that they need time to gain due diligence.”
It’s unclear how long it will take for those companies to do their due diligence, but given that we already know Fisker lost millions of dollars in customer payments, we’re not really confident that it has its books in order. If this actually happens, it will likely take some time.
Apparently, there was an offer but Fisker turned it down because they didn’t come to the table with enough money. If there’s more interest from other automakers, we understand they’ll wait longer, but at the same time, Fisker reportedly told employees earlier in the week that they could file for bankruptcy. assets within the next 30 days if additional cash is not found. As of April 16, the company’s filing said it had only $54 million on hand and “believes that available liquidity will be insufficient to meet current obligations.”
