Cheaper Tesla models will launch sooner than expected – before the second half of 2025, without “out of the box” production

Tesla revealed some details about its future product roadmap for cars in its recent Q1 2024 earnings update. They say there will be new models coming, including more affordable models, and they are aiming to launch them before the second half of 2025.

However, these new cars will not be built using an ‘out of the box’ production strategy as originally planned but will instead use existing production lines and share aspects with the platform Present.

According to Tesla, although this method will result in less cost reduction than using an out-of-the-box manufacturing strategy, it is lighter on capital costs.

Tesla’s most affordable model is the Model 3 RWD, which competes with the BYD Seal. Model Y competes with BYD Sea Lion. It has no competition to cheaper BYD models like the Atto 3, Dolphin and Seagull.

While The unboxed “Model 2” is now deadThe box-free production strategy still exists, as Tesla still intends to use it for the robotaxi project, which it plans to reveal further on August 8 of this year.
