NYGC suspends trainer pitchers for 45 days
Coach Wayne Potts has been suspended for 45 days by the New York Game Commission due to drug discovery in Belmont Park packaging has not been approved by the Federal Drug Administration for use in Thoroughbred racehorses.
The NYGC’s April 3 ruling did not list the drug’s name.
Potts, who waives his right to appeal, will be suspended from April 10 to May 6 and then from June 6 to June 23. The gap in the two suspensions avoids conflicts with the length of the suspension. just the upcoming 30 days of the Potts in New Jersey from May 7 to June 5 due to the expiration of Banamine during the June 2021 race at Monmouth Parkwhere he was top coach a year ago.
Previously, Potts was refused a booth by the New York Racing Association because of the current Aqueduct race track Spring meets and spring/summer in Belmont Park meets. As a result, Potts left his stall at Belmont Park and was not eligible to claim at Aqueduct Park or Belmont Park.
Potts has 21 wins from 76 starting in 2022, for a 28% win rate. He also has 15 seconds and 11 thirds with a 62% payoff.
