Monster Hunter Rise arguably one of the most successful titles of 2021. It became Capcom’s best selling single platform title to date. The Monster Hunter Rise The PC port has the potential to keep the game successful and strong among new players. With a surprisingly well-optimized title for the average or even lower end machines, those who have been waiting for it will be more than pleased with what it has.

Honestly, what surprised me the most about the PC release of Monster Hunter Rise is the absolute amount of customization available to the player’s graphics settings. Similar to the PC version of Monster Hunter: World, players can adjust to best suit their PC or laptop. Of course, there are standard settings that you can use to quickly set yourself up and get on the hunt right away. However, those who want to make sure the game runs optimally on lower-end machines can access Advanced Graphics Settings to tweak things as needed. I find this essential to enjoying gaming on my laptop, which has definitely shown signs of slowing down.
Configure certain settings that are allowed Monster Hunter Rise to run smoothly on the machine. It’s also great that Monster Hunter Rise actually shows how much graphics memory it is taking up. It’s really nice to be able to tailor my experience through these systems knowing that I’ll be able to play with friends, despite my old device. However, there were some lag and lag issues when I was fighting monsters in Lava Caverns’ entrenched lava cavity. So even though it’s not a perfect solution, the game is still playable and these issues don’t affect performance.
On the other hand, my new PC rig can handle everything spectacularly. I didn’t experience any kind of lag or screen tearing as loads of effects would pop up on the screen. It’s also very neat seeing all the things that I’ve now been able to tweak to my liking. These include dynamic shadows or even device shadows that make the experience more immersive than on the Nintendo Switch. Additionally, the 4K textures illustrate the level of detail really put into the monster and armor models. Kamura Village also looks absolutely amazing. Although the regions do not have the same level of detail as Monster Hunter: World, they still manage to look organic and interesting.
The filters available in the PC version of the game also give the image a certain kind of texture that really accentuates how gorgeous it can be. There are several options available. The Black and White Cinema filter not only adds grain and other visual effects, but also changes the sound quality of the game. The Warring Lands style filter has to be my favorite. It creates a very distinct visual look as it removes most of the cooler colors to replace them with muted grays, which enhances the red and brown color palettes. There’s really no competition between which version of the game feels more accessible in regards to its graphic options and what looks more visually stimulating.
Monster Hunter Rise for PC deserves much more than those who were hesitant to buy it for the Nintendo Switch. It has some amazing visual updates that really let the environments and monsters shine. And it’s great to have avenues for players with less gear than stars to still equip and join their friends in one of the most powerful Monster Hunter titles to date.
