Watch for winter storms and severe weather news
A spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) said part of a major interstate in Tennessee is currently closed due to an overturned sales in Humphreys County.
“I-40 East closed due to a pickup at Humphreys Co. flipped at 136 mm. Wrecker was on the scene to move the truck. The road is not snowy but conditions are wet and can be slippery. Get out of there slowly,” TDOT spokesman Rebekah Hammonds said in a statement tweet.
Humphreys County is located about 65 miles west of Nashville on I-40.
I-40 is a major interstate that crosses the entire state, west to east.
TDOT is actively clearing the road and they are asking people to stay at home.
“As snow continues to fall in some parts of the state, a reminder of #myTDOT’s clearing priorities. Please stay home and stay safe while our team clears these roads,” TDOT tweeted.
Areas of Tennessee are currently under a winter storm warning and/or winter weather notice, according to the National Weather Service.
