Chery Malaysia recalls 600 Omoda 5s due to possible axle problems – the rear beam needs to be replaced

Chery Malaysia has issued a safety recall for 600 Omoda 5s for a long time. Potential shaft problems. This comes after a viral social media post in which a customer’s Omoda 5 appeared to have had its rear axle separated from the vehicle while driving.

The company said it has identified the problem and the rear axle beam assembly on affected vehicles will be completely replaced rather than repaired. The job will take about two hours. Affected owners will be contacted directly soon to have their vehicles included.

Chery also added that it has identified a batch of affected parts, which may be due to facility upgrades by a specific parts supplier. The company assured its customers that the affected batch of vehicles were safe to drive and stated that the virus incident was an isolated case that had been successfully resolved.

If desired, customers who are not affected beyond the 600 units (more than 7,000 Omoda 5 units have been sold in Malaysia) can contact Chery Malaysia care product line +603 2771 7070 for vehicle inspection and a full inspection report will be provided.

A dedicated website will also be created for customers to check if their vehicle is included in the recall.
