A family found a tiny black kitten, later named Luna, alone in their barn. She seemed lifeless, but upon closer look, the young kitten was still breathing. They immediately wrapped her up and put her under a heat lamp. Luna was just a few days old, and they had to bottle-feed her. Her life hung in the balance, but the family vowed to do all they could to save her life.
Soon Luna improved! She was still so tiny and craved a mother’s warmth and affection. That is when Piper the pup, came into the picture. Luna and Piper’s mom bent down and introduced the German Shorthaired Pointer to the little black kitten. The large dog took one look at Luna and fell in love! She became her protector and best friend. She was maybe a bit over-protective, but she couldn’t risk anything happening to her little kitty baby.
Soon Luna was strong enough to frolic on her own. Piper still keeps a watchful eye on the kitten but from a distance. Their dog and kitty ‘love affair’ is still going strong!
