Universal Orlando’s new DreamWorks Land opens this June
If you (or your kids) love “Shrek,” “Trolls” and “Kung Fu Panda,” we have some exciting news for you. This summer, Universal will open a land inspired by favorite movies and characters called DreamWorks Land.
Universal announced Monday that DreamWorks Land will officially open on June 14, just in time for the summer holidays.
DreamWorks Land will replace Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone at Universal Studios Florida but will retain the area’s status as a park destination for young children and their families. In addition to a brand new roller coaster, the land will feature interactive play areas, live entertainment and character encounters.
When you enter DreamWorks Land, you’ll first meet Swamp Shrek and his 35-foot tall tiny house. Outside the house you will be able to meet Shrek, Princess Fiona and Donkey. Shrek’s Swamp will also have a play area with slides, playgrounds and splash areas.

You can also meet many of the cats who live with Mama Luna in “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” at Feline Fiesta, where you can play with the kittens on an interactive screen. Other areas include King Harold’s Swamp Symphony, where you can make music using interactive water lily pads, and Swamp Snacks, a casual spot to enjoy treats.
Visitors can also visit Trolls Village and ride the fun, family-friendly Trolls roller coaster. This all-ages coaster features beloved characters from the “Trolls” movies, and the ride’s cars are designed to look like the Caterbus that transported the Trolls in the movie. Universal has not yet established a minimum height requirement, but the minimum height of the coaster it is replacing is 36 inches.

Kids can also play in the Poppy Playground, nestled under a 20-foot mushroom tree (three cheers for the shade); shop DreamWorks merchandise at High Five Hideaway; or grab a bite from Trolls Treats.

As you step further inland, you’ll find Po’s Kung Fu Camp, a play area with both wet and dry areas inspired by the movie “Kung Fu Panda.” You will definitely get wet if you visit the area where pandas wash and dry clothes thanks to sprinklers and dumping buckets; There is also a dry area with an interactive gong wheel and noodle bowls.
You can also meet Po himself at “Po Live!” — a meet and greet experience where kids can learn kung fu moves from the Dragon Warrior himself.
