Pet food brand announces Salmonella contamination in private email
Fresh dog food delivery services are growing in popularity as they can specifically meet the needs of your furry friend. However, like all pet food brands, they can have recalls now and then.
Spot & Tango recalled four batches of food on September 6, 2022, after testing positive for Salmonella. They only notify the recall in a private email to their customers and do not confirm the recall with the Dog Food Advisor when asked. So, if your dog ingests this brand, keep reading to find out if you have an affected product.

Danger of Salmonella
Dog food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria can affect the animals that eat it and the people who handle it. People are at higher risk of getting sick if they don’t wash their hands after touching pet food.
Dogs infected with Salmonella may experience diarrhea, vomiting, fever, lethargy, abdominal pain, or loss of appetite. If your dog develops unusual symptoms after eating the recalled products, contact your veterinarian to be on the safe side. Some infected dogs will not show any symptoms, but they can still transmit the bacteria to humans.
People who have been exposed to contaminated food may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or abdominal cramps. In severe cases, it can lead to more serious conditions such as arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, eye irritation, muscle pain, and urinary tract infections. If you experience any of these symptoms after touching food, you should speak to a medical professional.
Fortunately, symptoms of Salmonella usually only last for a few days, but during that time, infected people or pets are highly contagious. It is safest to stay at home if you think you have been infected.
What to do with affected products?
If you have recalled products, stop feeding your dog. Throw them away and wash anything that the food touches, such as bowls, measuring cups, counters, and containers. Always wash your hands after handling dog food.
You can get a refund for the dish by filling in this sample from Spot & Tango. If you have questions or other concerns about the product, you can email the company at [email protected]. The company does not list a customer service number on its website.
