Millionaire Warrant to Stand at Blackstone Farm in 2024

Warrant, a graded stakes-winning and grade 1-placed millionaire by the top-15 general list sire Constitution  , has been retired from racing and will stand the upcoming breeding season at Blackstone Farm in Pine Grove, Pa., the farm announced Nov. 29. Warrant will stand his initial season at stud for a fee of $4,000, stands and nurses.

A homebred for Twin Creeks Farm trained by Brad Cox, Warrant went 5-6-4 in 19 starts en route to amassing earnings of $1,102,833. He was a stakes winner at distances ranging from 1 1/16 miles to 1 1/2 miles. At 3 in 2021, Warrant won the Oklahoma Derby (G3) at Remington Park and the Texas Derby at Lone Star Park. This year at age 5, he added a victory in the 1 1/2-mile Isaac Murphy Marathon Stakes at Churchill Downs, defeating multiple graded stakes winners Next  and Lone Rock .

“Warrant being a grade 3 winner and grade 1-placed millionaire by emerging elite sire Constitution, we are very excited and can’t wait to introduce him to Pennsylvania breeders,” said Christian Black, managing partner at Blackstone Farm. “We will be supporting him heavily with our own mares.”

In his biggest victory in the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby, Warrant turned in a gutsy, rail-skimming performance. Racing in fifth in the early stages, Warrant progressively advanced on the front-running Flash of Mischief  to the far turn. Following a fierce battle through the stretch, Warrant shrugged off a resurgent Flash of Mischief close to home, drawing clear for a 1 3/4-length score with grade 1 winner Super Stock  finishing third.

In addition to his stakes victories, Warrant finished a close second in the 2022 Santa Anita Handicap (G1). In another determined effort, he was beaten just a head by Express Train  after pressing the pace between rivals throughout the 1 1/4-mile fixture. He recorded a career-high 104 Beyer Speed Figure in the impressive performance, finishing ahead of grade 1 winner Stiletto Boy and graded stakes winners Spielberg  and American Theorem . Warrant also placed in four other graded stakes—the West Virginia Derby (G3), the Louisiana Stakes (G3), the Cornhusker Handicap (G3), and the Brooklyn Stakes (G2).

“From Day One, Warrant has been our favorite Constitution that we have bred,” Twin Creeks’ Randy Gullatt said. “We have a ton of confidence in what Warrant can do as a stallion and look forward to supporting him.”

A son of Constitution, the second-leading sire of 2-year-olds in 2023 behind only Justify  , Kentucky-bred Warrant is produced from the First Samurai   mare Whisper Number , the dam of graded stakes winner Ms Locust Point , an earner of $675,975. This is also the family of multiple stakes winner Mr. Buff , an earner of $1,403,536.
