24-2-1 Featherweight Mauricio Lara faced Jose Sanmartin 33-5-1 on Saturday night in the main event of the 10th round scheduled for the match broadcast live from Mexico City via DAZN. Both men appear to be somewhat cautious in the first part, although Lara appears to be still alive at the end of the round. Each boxer maintained a high defense for the second moment while the passionate Lara-supporting crowd cheered on their men. Lara has a patient aggression that makes him look like a young Gennady Golovkin. A low hit from Sanmartin brought the fight to a halt for a few seconds near the end of the round.

Sanmartin has a bad habit of standing upright in front of his man. It was a habit that cost him the fight in the third round. Lara tagged him earlier, causing Sanmartin to stagger, then fall back and hit the tarp near the rope. Sanmartin defeated the count, then continued to fight energetically. However, Lara smells blood and rushes in to kill, firing one shot after another with bad intentions. Moments later, Sanmartin was disappointed again. However, by this time, the referee had seen enough and decided to stop the game. It can be said that the audience in Mexico City, Lara’s hometown, was very happy with this result.

Lara promoted by Eddie Hearn is currently looking for a title clash. Indeed, Lara was set to take on Leigh Wood for Wood’s WBA world featherweight title, but a Wood injury brought the match to an end. In fact, after the match, Lara had harsh words regarding Wood. “He said he was injured,” Lara said of the dangerous Brit, “but… that doesn’t seem to be the case.”
