Introducing the Lexus RX

Lexus Malaysia has uploaded a trailer for the upcoming launch of the Lexus RX 2023 on their Facebook page. The fifth-generation RX was first launched in June 2022 and features a major overhaul of the engine range, now featuring an exclusive four-cylinder lineup.

There are four engine variants – the base model is the RX350 with the T24A-FTS 2.4 turbo making 279 PS (275 hp) and 430 Nm. It is joined by three hybrid variants, the RX350h, RX450h+ and RX500h F Sport Performance.

The RX350h uses a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter A25A-FXS engine (190 PS and 239 Nm) with a serial parallel hybrid system linked to a 1.6 kWh battery and an eCVT. The combined system output of the RX 350h is 249 PS (246 hp) and 316 Nm and can be fitted with either front- or all-wheel drive (E-Four).

On top of that, you have the RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid, which features a 2.5-liter A25A-FXS naturally aspirated four-cylinder, e-CVT, an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery as well as a front-wheel drive (182 PS). /180 hp/134 kW) and rear electric motor (54 PS/54 hp/40 kW). Together with the electric motors, this variant has a combined system output of 309 PS (304 hp).

The engine comes with its own parallel hybrid system and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission instead of the e-CVT typical of Toyota’s hybrid powertrains. When in operation, the motor drives the front wheels while the electric motor handles the rear wheels, giving you all-wheel drive and total system output of 373 PS (367 hp) and 550 lb-ft of torque. Nm.

Our northern neighbor Thailand is only getting the fifth-generation RX in RX450h+ form, which is a plug-in hybrid with a 2.5-liter normally aspirated engine. Two variants of the RX are available in Thailand, namely the luxury AWD priced at 4.64 million baht (about RM602k) and the top-end AWD for 5.09 million baht (about RM661k).

In Malaysia, the Lexus RX is currently priced from RM429,888 for the RX300 Premium to RM470,888 for the RX300 F Sport. 300 was called 200t when it was first launched.
