While the words thrift and film photography are today a sort of oxymoron, half-frame is arguably the most cost-effective format you’ll find. As Kodak said: “Half the frame, double the fun.” For anyone unfamiliar, instead of the usual negative 24×36mm horizontal aspect ratio, half-frame gives you 18×24mm vertical orientation, even when you hold the camera in landscape position. normally. I’ve noticed these myself, but not sure if I want to invest my money in something more refined like the Olympus Pen FT which allows me to use high quality Zuiko lenses and focus by hand or not. I currently have a pen on loan from Matt Murray, so stay tuned for my results from testing it soon! However, I’m not sure I would resist pulling the trigger on the Kodak H35. The more pressing question for me is: what color?
