Kia EV6 2022 starts at $42,115, rated 310 miles by EPA in select versions

On Tuesday, Kia announced pricing information for the 2022 EV6 electric model, which will hit dealerships in February.

The 2022 Kia EV6 starts at $42,115 in base form, making it slightly higher than Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID.4 but less than the input price of a Ford Mustang Mach-E.

If a buyer qualifies for the $7,500 EV tax credit — meaning they have enough tax liability to claim it — that effectively reduces the base EV6 Light’s base price to $34,615. Kia notes that other state incentives may apply, such as lane sharing in California. Unlike its sibling, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6 will be offered in all 50 states.

The EV6 line includes lightweight, windy and sporty GT-Line models.

The Light version comes in single-engine rear-wheel drive only, with a 58.0 kWh battery pack and an EPA-rated range of 232 miles.

Wind and GT-Line models can be had in single-engine rear-wheel drive (RWD) or dual-engine all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. RWD versions generate 225 hp from the rear 168 kw engine, with up to 310 miles of EPA range from the larger 77.4 kwh battery pack; they cost $48,215 and $52,415 respectively.

Similar models can also be equipped with AWD, delivering 320 hp (74 kW front plus 165 kW rear). They cost $52,115 and $57,115 respectively, and Kia says they can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.
