Katie Taylor outperforms Karen Carabajal

Undisputed women’s lightweight champion Katie Taylor once again proved to the world on Saturday how good she is. Against undefeated Argentinian Karen Carabajal, Ireland’s Taylor impressed the audience at London’s Wembley Stadium by easily handling her game but outperforming the competition. 19-0 Carabajal is nothing without determination, but it all turned to skill on Saturday. Taylor’s superb footwork, cleaner punch and successful use of the club and style of movement prove to be overwhelming for the 32-year-old challenger. After the final bell rang, the referees decided to favor the 36-year-old defending champion Taylor with the points 100-91, 98-92 and 99-91.
“She has everything to gain here tonight,” Taylor said after the battle with Carabajal. “I’m just happy to get another win.” Taylor promoter, Matchroom honcho Eddie Hearn announced it was time for Taylor to once again fight in her native Ireland. “Time to go back to Ireland,” he said. “Whoever, wherever, Ireland must be next for Katie Taylor.” Taylor, of course, wants a rematch with Amanda Serrano, with whom she made the decision earlier this year in New York. However, Hearn points out that Team Taylor won’t be sitting around indefinitely hoping for a second Serrano fight to eventually materialize itself. “Time will not wait for Amanda Serrano,” he said.
