Joshua will fight in the sky for the rest of his career, says Shalom

Ben Shalom believes the remaining matches of Anthony Joshua’s career will be shown on Sky Sports.

The former heavyweight champion, promoted by Eddie Hearn, is free to explore other broadcasting deals after his contract with Sky recently expired. And while Shalom doesn’t work directly with Joshua, he does advertise his own shows through Boxxer on Sky Sports.

As everything settles down, Joshua has no opponents in his next bout. A rematch with WBA, IBF and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk is now unlikely to come in the summer with the Ukrainian in his country set to play his part in the fight against Russian aggression.

“I believe AJ will stay with Sky but that is the conversation we will have with 258 (Joshua’s manager) and I hope AJ will stay with Sky,” Shalom said.

Joshua’s short-term future may lie in the match against the interim opponent while waiting for the Usyk rematch. Various names were suggested and Shalom made his own choice.

“I think Otto Wallin is the obvious temporary while Usyk has a terrible situation he has to deal with and hopefully that doesn’t last too long. In the meantime, AJ will want to fight. Eddie Hearn, Matchroom is his promoter but hopefully we’ll join. At the end of the day, we want AJ to stay at Sky. It helps Sky make money from boxing that we can reinvest. I sincerely expect him to stay with Sky for the rest of his career.”
