Make no mistake about it, Terence Crawford and Errol Spence effectively dominate the welder weight class. After their hyped (and legal) July 29 fight, only one of the two men will reign supreme. Also there could be a rematch. No problem. The truth is, while WBO player Crawford, and WBC, WBA and IBF player Errol Spence represent the established wing of the division, Jaron “Boots” Ennis is at the top of the list of those supposedly representing the division. the future of the department. And so, while Crawford and Spence are absorbing money and eyeballs at the moment, Ennis, 26, is sure to keep himself busy.
Indeed, boxer Philly will be hitting the Showtime card in Atlantic City on Saturday night. His opponent will be the hard-hit Roiman Villa 26-1. Although he is the one who has stopped the majority of his opponents at long distance, many doubt that Venezueala’s Villa will equalize on Saturday – although one never knows. If Ennis 30-0 goes on to win, he will continue to be seen as a man running out of time. However, if he ends up being stunned by Villa, Ennis will find his career derailed. Again, however, few were able to give Villa many opportunities to untangle.
It’s not that this weekend’s fight won’t be interesting as it drags on. Like Villa, Ennis won the majority of his battles at long distances. However, Ennis was more than just power. There’s real fluidity, grace in his style. The man does a great job combining his punches together, plus he can fight ropes and maintain range when the situation calls for it. He may not have a stellar resume yet, but Ennis has been passing the eye test for a while now.
Villa can of course look impressive in its own right. A boxer can turn off the lights in a way that Villa might MUST be taken seriously. However, although he has strength comparable to Ennis’, he does not appear (“appear” is the correct word here) to possess the sharpness, or self-awareness, of a craftsman. welding is up. With that said, there’s one thing Ennis has to keep in mind as he’s currently on the cusp of stardom – and that’s the most obvious – in order to keep winning. Becoming bored or underestimating his challenges in the future can have significant consequences.
