Modern cameras and lenses are so good that they can handle anything you can throw at them, and while it’s great to have such powerful capabilities at your fingertips, it also has can be a bit numb in some way. If you’re in the creative process and aren’t sure how to get out of it, check out this great video that will show you how adding constraints to your photography can really kick it off.

The idea is that when we have complete creative freedom, it can be a bit difficult to figure out where to go. When you add a constraint, you force your brain to work around it, and in the process of solving the problems it poses, you discover a creative direction. In that sense, the actual binding isn’t really that important. It can be something completely arbitrary, such as just shooting with a slow shutter speed.
