OM Digital Solutions has announced a new macro lens for Micro Four Thirds with a 2:1 reproduction ratio called OM System M.Zuiko 90mm F3.5 Macro IS PRO. With the designation “PRO”, this lens is aimed at photography enthusiasts and professionals, and can be a game changer for underwater macro photographers.
Composed of 18 elements, arranged in 13 groups, the lens features a stabilization system that works in conjunction with the OM System and Olympus camera bodies to provide up to 7 steps of compensation via 5-axis synchronous IS. According to OM Digital Solutions, the lens also features “an on-lens accelerometer that accurately detects motion blur to correct shift, which has a significant impact on macro photography.”
The lens weighs in at a modest 16oz (453g) and measures just 5.4″ long x 2.7″ in diameter (136mm x 70mm). Minimum focusing distance of just 8.8″ (22.4 cm) means a working distance of about 3 inches (8 cm) from the tip of the lens.
Launching in March 2023, the OM System 90mm f/3.5 macro IS PRO will have a suggested retail price of $1,500.
