Host your own virtual 3D art gallery for free with Galeryst and Adobe Lightroom: Digital Photography Review

Depending on your region, the pandemic could make it harder to see artwork in a gallery than everywhere else. Thankfully, as has happened during the course of the pandemic, a clever program called Galeryst is on hand to help bring the library experience to your desktop. Galeryst is an online gallery platform that allows photographers to turn their Lightroom albums into a living library of 3D art. You can host a library of up to 80 photos for free.

To get started, all you need is a free trial of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and an Adobe ID. After syncing your Lightroom albums and signing in with Adobe, Galeryst does the rest. Users can choose how to arrange floors, walls, ceilings, and panels to represent their work in a personalized 3D gallery. You can view 3D galleries created by Galeryst on your computer, tablet, smartphone, or virtual reality headset.

Galeryst was created by Michael Scherotter and a team of dedicated volunteers. Scherotter wants to recreate the traditional online gallery experience as the pandemic shuts down many art galleries and exhibitions. This year, Scherotter took a sabbatical from his position as director of engineering programs at Microsoft to build Galeryst.

If you want your own gallery with four separate wings, you’ll need a paid plan. The free plan includes one gallery and two wings. You can store up to 80 works of art in the free Beginners Plan. For $3.99 per month, you can host five galleries with six wings each and share a total of 5,760 artworks. Additional plans add more galleries, wings, spaces, and artwork capacity, up to 96,480 works of art for $216.99 per year.
