When rescuers arrived, Keanu had completely given up. After the gentle giant was abandoned in the forest, he became so sick and sad that he chose to give up life entirely. He was found hours away from death, lying motionless on the forest floor. He didn’t even have the strength to stand.
But with a lot of love and care, Keanu was able to find his will to live again.
When they found Keanu lying on the frozen ground, the poor dog was in very rough shape. So the rescuers picked him up, put him in their car, and took him straight to the vet for life-saving treatment. When he first arrived, he was so weak that he could hardly lift his head on his own. It took him hours to even be able to respond to treatment.
But despite what he’s been through, he’s still very loving and trusting with each of his new caregivers. It was clear that Keanu had complete confidence in them and he understood that they were there to help him heal. He’s so gentle. You can see it in his soulful eyes.
The first week he was there, Keanu could barely move his muscles. He even eats and drinks while lying in the same position. He will lie on his side. Then, gradually over the next week, they were able to move his food bowl further and further away. Keanu is slowly regaining the strength to stand and walk.
After relearning how to stand, he was able to begin to explore the pitch slowly but surely. Because of the terrible form he came in, what an interesting sight to see. But the most heartwarming thing was when Keanu finally started competing!
After several months, the rescuers saw Keanu’s true spirit return to him. After getting to know him well, they knew he was a once-in-a-lifetime dog. He’s really special.
Not long after recovering, the gentle Keanu found the loving home he deserved. In the end, he was not only bathed in love, but in harmony with his new furry brothers and sisters. And all thanks to his caring lifeguards.
