With the Showtime pay-per-view battle against Hector Luis Garcia set for January 7, multi-listed Gervonta Davis was arrested in Florida for domestic violence on Tuesday. According to multiple reports, Davis was taken to Broward County’s Parkland County for registration. Davis, 29, is said to have hurt a woman by hitting her. As of press time, the undefeated boxer is still in prison, although the bond has been set at one thousand dollars. Every Fox 5 News: “The police report said that at about 1:25 p.m., Davis intentionally beat the victim against her will and caused her injury.”

This is not the first time Davis has been in legal trouble for allegedly abusing women. Back in February 2020, after he was rough with his daughter’s mother on video at a charity basketball game in Coral Gables, Florida, the Baltimore man was charged with domestic violence. The case was finally settled earlier this month. In addition to his most recent legal troubles, Davis is due to appear in court in Baltimore on February 16 for a 2020 incident involving a hit-and-run crash. A lawsuit has also been filed against the fighter over this issue.

Needless to say, it remains to be seen whether next weekend’s scheduled game between Davis and Garcia, scheduled to take place at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, goes as planned. Despite being the main pay-per-view event, the match was seen as a tweak for Davis, who was supposed to face off against Ryan Garcia in a legal superfight this year.

Each fox 5: “The report (of Tuesday’s incident) also states that Davis struck the victim with a ‘closed hand’ on the right side of her head, resulting in a small cut on her upper lip.”
