Featherweight contenders Isaac Dogboe and Joet Gonzalez were knocked out in a scheduled 10th round match for the WBO mandatory spot Saturday night in Minnesota. The fight, which is broadcast live on ESPN+, is vitally important to every man. Former world players 23-2 Dogboe and 25-2 Gonzalez started cautiously, each respecting the other’s expertise. Dogboe at seconds looks impressive, has good range control and landing. Dogboe continues to do some heavy lifting in the third installment. Gonzalez caught his men in the fourth round and continued to land hard. Both boxers put their punches together well in the fifth round.

The power of Gonzalez’s fist told the story of the sixth season. Dogboe looks as if he’s starting to get beaten up. Dogboe fought hard in the seventh inning, but it was Gonzalez who pushed him back as the two men exchanged punches. By day eight, Gonzalez had lunged at Dogboe on the rope. The ninth season shows Dogboe, who looked better than before, still joining the fight. Going into the twelfth and final round, it could be a boxer’s fight to lose. Needless to say, the fighters displayed courage and bravery during the difficult final three minutes.

When all was said and done, Dogboe won, passing division ruling from the judges.
